1. Overview
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) defines what constitutes acceptable and prohibited use of the BizVerify API and related services (“Service”). This AUP is incorporated into and forms part of our Terms of Service.
By using the Service, you agree to comply with this AUP. We may update this policy from time to time and will notify you of material changes.
2. Prohibited Activities
You may not use the Service to:
2.1 Data Misuse
- Resell or redistribute raw data — You may not resell, sublicense, or redistribute raw government registry data obtained through the Service as a standalone dataset or data feed.
- Build a competing service — You may not use the Service to build, operate, or supply data to a business verification service that competes with BizVerify.
- Bulk data harvesting — You may not systematically download or cache the entire contents of any government registry through the Service.
2.2 Technical Abuse
- Scraping or crawling — You may not scrape, crawl, or spider the API or any BizVerify web properties.
- Rate limit circumvention — You may not circumvent, bypass, or attempt to exceed published rate limits, including by rotating API keys, using multiple accounts, or distributing requests across proxies.
- Authentication bypass — You may not circumvent, tamper with, or bypass authentication, authorization, or billing mechanisms.
- Vulnerability exploitation — You may not probe, scan, or test the Service for vulnerabilities without prior written authorization from BizVerify.
- Service disruption — You may not attempt to degrade, disrupt, or overload the Service or its underlying infrastructure.
2.3 Billing Abuse
- Creating multiple free-tier accounts to accumulate credits beyond the intended limit.
- Filing fraudulent chargebacks or disputes for credits that were legitimately consumed.
- Exploiting pricing errors or system bugs rather than reporting them.
2.4 Illegal Use
- Using the Service for any purpose that violates applicable law or regulation.
- Using the Service to facilitate fraud, identity theft, or financial crime.
- Using the Service in violation of export control or sanctions regulations.
3. Permitted Use
For clarity, the following uses are permitted and encouraged:
- Integrating BizVerify into your application to verify business entities as part of your KYB, onboarding, or compliance workflows.
- Caching verification results for reasonable periods to reduce redundant API calls, as long as you do not redistribute cached data.
- Displaying verification results to your end users as part of your product or service.
- Using the API through AI agents, automation tools, or MCP integrations for legitimate business verification purposes.
4. Rate Limits
All accounts are subject to rate limits as published in our API documentation. Current default limits:
- Free tier: 60 requests per minute
- Paid tiers: Rate limits scale with your plan. Contact us for enterprise limits.
If you need higher limits, reach out at legal@bizverify.co rather than attempting to circumvent existing limits.
5. Monitoring and Enforcement
We monitor API usage patterns to detect violations of this AUP. We may use automated systems to identify unusual activity. If we detect a violation, we may take one or more of the following actions:
- Warning — We will notify you of the violation and request that you remediate within a reasonable timeframe.
- Rate limit reduction — We may temporarily reduce your rate limits.
- Account suspension — We may suspend your API access pending investigation.
- Account termination — For severe or repeated violations, we may permanently terminate your account.
We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before or promptly after taking action, except where doing so would compromise security or legal obligations.
6. Reporting Violations
If you become aware of any violation of this AUP, or if you discover a security vulnerability, please report it to legal@bizverify.co. We appreciate responsible disclosure.
